Rudolf Nureyev (1938-1993) and Margot Fonteyn (1919-1991) first danced together in 'Giselle' in 1962, beginning a partnership that would endure until Fonteyn's retirement in 1979. They were in Venna to rehearse Nureyev's production of 'Swan Lake'.
